Arguably, no club in Yorkshire has a greater Twickenham pedigree than Bradford Salem.

They won the Provincial Insurance Cup at HQ in its first two years (1991 and 1992) and were runners-up in the RFU Senior Vase in 2007.

Salem start on the Twickenham trail again on Saturday when they visit Durham and Northumberland Division One leaders Guisborough in the Yorkshire Shield.

“We would love to get there again, and I would prefer the Vase to be run as it used to with hundred of teams entered,” admitted Salem’s first-team manager Neil Klenk.

“But there isn’t time on the calendar any more. However, as this was a free date from a league fixture originally, we are not at full strength.

“We are missing skipper James Cunliffe and winger Connor Malarkey, who are both going to watch England v New Zealand, while scrum half Jack Mitchell has a family commitment.”

Keighley are at Selby in another second-round tie.
