SSE Yorkshire Division Two: Sheffield Medicals 0 Keighley 17

KEIGHLEY dominated the early stages of this game, with their forwards controlling both scrum and loose play.

After a midfield arm wrestle, the visitors forced a scrum on the opposition five-metre line, which was driven over, No 8 Josh Hannah touching down.

Medics responded well, moving the ball through the hands at every opportunity, but they were unable to break through a well-organised defence and, towards the end of the half, Keighley captain Will Armitage crossed wide out.

The second half started well for the hosts as they maintained possession and caused serious problems for the visitors.

Keighley weathered the storm, however, using forwards and backs to move play into the Medics half.

A knock on from a line-out led to a Keighley scrum on the five-metre line and, as the pack drove the scrum forward and they were about to cross, the scrum collapsed and the referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty try, which was converted by fly half Rob Wilkinson.

Keighley were intent on scoring a fourth try to gain a bonus point. However, although they came close on a number of occasions, poor options and inaccuracy let them down.
