Injured Keighley rugby player Nathan Cubitt has received a cheque for £4,350 towards his trust fund.

The money came from the recent veterans’ match between Bradford Salem and Keighley which marked the official opening of the floodlights at Salem’s Shay Lane ground.

“It is the largest single amount that Nathan has received and was more than I was expecting,” confessed match organiser Paul Rae.

The cheque was presented at last Sunday’s Richard Birkett Memorial Match between a Bradford Salem XV and a Bradford Grammar School Old Boys’ XV.

Salem, beefed up by a strong contingent from Bradford & Bingley, won 59-14 but Jonny Robinson and Adam Sutcliffe shone for the Old Boys.
