TARPY John Of your charity please pray for the repose of the soul of John, who passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2018, aged 88 years, after a short illness. Dearly loved husband of the late Pat, loved father of John, Anne, Jane and Maire, dear father-in-law, devoted grandad and great-grandad, very dear brother, brother-in-law and uncle. John will be received into St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ingrow, Keighley on Thursday, May 17 at 7.30pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Friday at.11.00am followed by interment at Oakworth Cemetery. Family flowers only please but donations would be appreciated to Marie Curie Cancer Care. A box will be provided at the church for this purpose or may be made online at www.david-gallagher.co.uk. May He Rest In Peace.

John, Mr Tarpy, was my teacher in my last year at Oakworth Primary. He was the best teacher I ever had and I will always have the fondest memories of him. His slipper and ruler for when we were bad, his rendition of 'the grandfather clock' on the accordian, to which I know all the words even now at 51, and his unflagging determination to teach us all something. He inspired me, and many others I am sure. A good man. May he rest in peace.
