Our hearts are broken Grandad. You was my bestest friend from day one. You looked after me all the time, you walked around your housing with me when I was little to entertain me even though I begged you all the time. You made silly noises with me and sang your songs to us. Use to love going to Toby carvery with you when you'll have like 3 puddings sometimes. You told us where you use to live and who your father was every time we spoke to you. I loved taking you back to your hometown in Sheffield and hearing all your memories. You really did light up the room we walked into grandad, you was a brilliant man to everyone- your wife, children, grandchildren. You was simply amazing. I'm going to miss seeing your face either winking at us or just generally being happy and smiley. You fought your illnesses for many years and you never gave up- doing your sit ups and push ups until around 4 months ago at the age of 94 you really did amaze us! You was a inspiration to many and will continue to be. Thank you for being the best grandad anyone could have. Rest in peace. I love you grandad, my best friend, my inspiration always, we will give you the best send off as we can with the restrictions ****

My 💔 is broken Dad. I have so many memories of you which i will keep close by me forever. Memories that will help me remember lots of great times. Dad you thought many many years with your illness. You have been in a nursing home just over 6 years. Up until the last 12 months, You had been able to spend time with us and making us all smile during our family meals out with your loved ones at Toby carvery. You loved your Carverys and especially the deserts. You could never be filled has we were told this by the Summerfield Nursing home who looked after you. Dad you was so special to me, The 19th April will stick in my head forever.

The day that not only the day that i lost my Dad. But the day i lost my best friend. Those words that you told me in 1984. When you lost your Dad, my Grandad. Thomas Albert Pickering.
