FRONTLINE staff at train operator Northern have a new look.

Employees including conductors, drivers and station teams are being kitted out in new uniforms.

A fashion show launch was held in Manchester and the rollout will be complete by the end of November.

Daniel Edwards – for Northern, which operates services on the Airedale line – said the move was part of a general modernisation programme.

"We are modernising to transform rail travel in the north of England," he added.

"By 2020 we will have new trains, more seats and services and an improved customer experience.

"Now we will have a new look for our staff to complement our modern facilities.

"The uniform, designed in collaboration with staff from start to finish, will give our customer-facing colleagues a fresh look and make them easily recognisable."
