THANK you for a great article on page 14 of last week’s Keighley News – Wedding joy comes a day early – showing how children were celebrating the royal wedding in different places.

In particular, the section about Laycock Primary School was uplifting with marvellous pictures, and even more online.

However, I would like to correct the text which referred to “ the ceremony in the parish church”. The event took place in the Keighley New Church, Braithwaite Village, which is the school’s nearest church. I think the error occurred because the building was St Matthew’s Parish Church for Braithwaite, but that closed 42 years ago!

I do not want readers to think that the Rev Bank, at the New Church, who was master of ceremonies at the event, has let the royal wedding change her beliefs.

On a separate note, the summer fair at the New Church will be held on Saturday, from 11am to 2pm. Entry is free and all funds raised go to the church.

There will be plenty of ways for visitors to enjoy their time, browsing through ‘new to you’ books, records and music CDs, choosing a garden addition from the plant stall, trying your luck on the tombola, picking a cake for a nibble at home or enjoying the home-made products at the cafe. Children can also have fun with simple games of skill.
