Hush Hush – Mel Sherratt

MEL SHERRATT is an author who draws you in to the nitty-gritty, real-life world of living today.

I had previously enjoyed her Estate series of books so was looking forward to this new series introducing DS Grace Allendale and I was not disappointed.

Grace and her mother fled Stoke-on-Trent and the abuse of her father many years before.

In Hush Hush, Grace’s father and mobster George Steele has now died so she takes a promotion back in her home town.

It is not long before the murders keep piling up, and unfortunately for Grace they keep leading back to her father’s new family and the notorious Steeles gym.

Grace not only has to solve the murders but also come to understand her feelings towards her siblings who are somewhat jealous that she escaped the abuse they suffered for years.

Grace is desperate to fit in with her new team, but things don’t always go to plan as she lies about knowing the suspects. As the truth comes out she loses the trust of her team.

You need to keep reading to see whether she gets her man and the respect of her place on the Stoke murder team, but trust me, continuing to read is not a difficult task as Sherratt draws you in fabulously.

I am looking forward to the next instalment and keeping up with Grace Allendale.
