THE SOUND of the Smiths is recreated by a tribute band playing the Exchange Arts Centre in Keighley.

The Smiths Utd aim to take fans back to the 1980s on April 30 with the most authentic experience possible.

The Smiths Utd began in 2013 when two Smiths fans decided it was about time to challenge themselves musically.

Both had been playing in bands for many years around Lincolnshire, and they set out on finding a convincing Moz, completing the line-up in early 2014.

A spokesman said: “The emphasis was on reproducing the live sound of The Smiths, so the correct equipment to produce those sounds was painstakingly sourced.

“The band got out on the road early in 2015. The first tester gig was in a Lincolnshire village pub and the next was Lincoln Engine Shed.

“More well received gigs followed and the band joined forces with 8Ball Booking towards the end of 2015 to really get things moving.”
