IT’S CHRISTMAS party night at the Groovy Happening on Saturday December 2 with DNA, Milestone, Emily Sargant and the Sheratons.

Regulars celebrate the season by presenting their annual cheque to Manorlands, this time representing £5,100 raised during the year’s Groovy nights.

This means that a total of £26,100 has been raised since the Happening started five years ago at the Parkside Social Club in Butt Lane, Haworth.

Making their groovy debut is DNA who play classic rock with a few surprises, with the familiar face of lead guitarist Paul Wilkinson, who has played in another favourite Groovy band.

Milestone is an established Bradford-based trio playing Irish, American and British traditional and popular songs and music in folk and country styles.

Ann said: “A selective mix of acoustic guitars, bass, mandolin, banjo, flute, harmonica and vocal harmonies are featured to create a lively atmosphere for any social occasion.”

The Sheratons are an indie-rock band fronted by founder Kane Bulleyment on guitar and vocals, James Jowett on bass, Finley Ryan on rhythm guitar, and Emma Liu on the drums.

Young singer-songwriter Emily Sargant, who played at the first Groovy Happening five years ago, will return with songs in the acoustic folk/pop tradition of artists like Leddra Chapman and Ed Sheeran.

Doors open at 7.30pm. Admission £3.
