THE CAPTAIN Of The Lost Waves is sailing into the Lemon Tree Cafe Bistro in Keighley.

The captain, aka Shaun T Hunter, is among performers announced for the winter in the Oakworth Road venue.

He headlines on February 16 with support from local duo Mockingbirds, made up of Pam Johnson and Cath Harney who sing covers and original songs in “fabulous harmony”.

Organisers say Shaun’s performance is for people who enjoy a little Nu Vaudeville and Renaissance of the Bard, and like to be actively involved in a show rather than merely being a bystander.

He should appeal to people who like something uniquely different every time, joyously anarchic and highly unpredictable.

A spokesman added: “If you like defying the norms of social convention and enjoy laughter and fun-fuelled rebellion and reflection in equal measure, then please come forth.”

Ivor Novello Award-nominated singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine returns to the Lemon Tree on February 24 to run a songwriting workshop from 10am to 5pm, followed by a performance at 8pm.

Boo has worked as a songwriter, musician and producer with Fairground Attraction singer and “Scottish national treasure” Eddi Reader.

He wrote her international hit Patience of Angels in 1995 and produced her folk-classic album Sings the Songs of Robert Burns in 2003.

A spokesman said: “Boo is renowned for his ideas and innovation, for new ways of recording and bringing projects to completion.

American singer-songwriter Brookes Williams will play the Lemon Tree on March 8.
