CINEMAGOERS are being urged to root for the three female stars of the latest Keighley Film Club movie.

In Between is a new Israeli-French film with English subtitles and will be screened at the Picture House cinema on Sunday March 18.

Film Club spokesman Alan Watkinson said In Between dealt with the sensitive subject of conservative behaviour in Islamic culture clashing with intolerance of western liberalisation.

He said: “The story concerns three Pakistani single women living in Tel Aviv who in different ways attempt to balance issues of faith/tradition with modern living in a way that allows them to shape their own destinies.

“Laila is a hard-partying lawyer, Salma a bohemian lesbian DJ and Nour a devout naive Muslim computer scientist. When one experiences a tragic incident, it causes the bond between them to become stronger.”

Reviewers have praised the “intriguing and defiantly feminist film” as an engaging slice of life.

In Between can be seen at the Picture House in North Street on March 18 at 6pm.
