THE CRICKS is returning to the live music scene with a vengeance as a host of bands play the town centre pub.

The Cricketers Arms on Coney Lane, Keighley, began its latest season of live bookings last Saturday with Motor City Blue. Coming up on March 24 will be Big Town Boogie, playing upbeat blues and R’n’B “with a shuffle and swing designed to get you tapping your feet or strutting your stuff on the dance floor”.

March 31 will see Last Orders, a five-piece Yorkshire band who have played rock ‘n’ roll music at local pubs, bars and festivals for more than 17 years. Cricks spokesman Liam O’Keeffe said: “The gigs keep rolling in so the band keeps doing them and are as busy as ever.”

Sciatica, who play on April 14, are a rock covers band based in West Yorkshire, who play songs from bands such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, UFO and Bad Company.

Hugely-popular Keighley band Night Patrol arrive on April 21 to take the audience through the decades with an eclectic mix of hits from the 50s to present.

Liam said: “Along with their flamboyant performances, breathtaking solos and powerful vocals, Night Patrol’s live performances are not to be missed.”

Memphis Cruisers take the stage on May 5 with top class rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll.

Liam added: “The band has a wealth of experience, playing at many rock ‘n’ roll-type venues and events, and also clubs and pubs around the country.

“DNA, on May 19, feature former members of Cricketers Band Night legends Sawdust, bringing their classic selection of rock covers with a twist for one night only!”

Leeds-based covers band The Rads perform rock, blues, soul, punk and funk on June 9, while the “new and exciting” Low River Blues Band will play blues-rock covers and originals on June 16.
