Peter Pan – Bradford Alhambra

PETER PAN flies into Bradford Alhambra for this year’s family pantomime.

Join everyone's favourite comedy lead Billy Pearce as Smee as we join in this swashbuckling adventure.

This year’s panto sees a whole host of well-known faces and with Darren Day as Captain Hook you are in for treat. I really enjoyed his performance although as an out-and-out villain I think he came over just a little too nice, but his chemistry with Billy was infectious.

Charlie Hardwick (Emmerdale) as Mimi the Magical Mermaid was a revelation – she sang beautifully and her stage presence made her scenes flow effortlessly. Her duet with Captain Hook was a particular highlight.

Jon Lee (S Club 7) was likable as Peter Pan although I could have done with seeing more of him.

The show seems to be very light on songs and with such a talented cast of singers it would have been nice to have some more.

We then come onto the 3D scene which a lot of effort goes into, but this’s offering was far too scary for the children. My girls Grace, three, and Maisy, seven, spent the whole scene hiding their eyes, and judging by the screams from other children in the audience this was the best idea.

My family really enjoyed the panto and have done for many years.

With Billy you know what you are going to get, and this year is no exception: sometimes you do feel the old routines are a little too familiar but that said, it is those you come away thinking about.

The Alhambra's pantomime is always a joy to attend and have never been disappointed. The whole cast are very professional even down to the delightful Sunbeams, another tradition which gives Bradford's Number One panto that cosy family feeling.
