CANDLEMASS Eve will see the traditional annual stroll from Haworth to Oxenhope and back for carols round the tree.

The 5.5-mile guided walk on Saturday, December 9 will begin from the church steps at the top of Main Street at 10.30am, and will be led by David Anderson.

Bradford Council’s volunteer-led walks will continue on December 13 with Christmas Cheer, a four-mile circular walk, led by Gillian Dale and David Anderson.

Meet at 10.30am at Esholt car park, Station Road, for the walk to Tong Park and towards Hawksworth with a treat en route.

Old Hanna is the title of a six-mile circular walk on December 17, led by Ken Allen Senior down into the woods to Coley and Northowram and back.

The walk could be muddy. Meet at 10.30am at the Harold Club on the junction of A641 Huddersfield Road and New Works Road, Bradford.

Winter solstice will be marked on December 21 with a four-mile circular walk, starting from Bingley Arts Centre at 7.30am.

Barbara Walker will lead people and a steady climb on good paths to Druid’s Altar to hopefully see the first sunrise of winter and perhaps some deer.
