A KEIGHLEY mosque has helped ease the hospital experience for children by presenting them with a selection of Eid presents.

A group from the Muhammadi Mosque, which is in East Avenue, Showfield, visited Ward 17 of Airedale Hospital shortly after this year's Muslim Eid al-Adha festival.

The four mosque members handed over a wide range of presents, suitable for both very young children and teenagers in the ward.

Shohab Ali, who is one of the trustees on the mosque's management committee, said he and his colleagues also gave gifts to children in the hospital last year.

He added the response to this year's donation had been extremely positive.

"We bought the presents ourselves," he said. "Any gifts left over this time will still be used by the hospital in future, so they will benefit children.

"This was about community engagement and letting everyone know what Eid is about, and we've had very good feedback from people since.

"We also gave £1,000 to Airedale's A&E earlier this year, which we raised through three collections after Friday prayers.

"The mosque will continue to do things to support the hospital. It's an ongoing project."
