KEIGHLEY people are being urged to get down to the woods for a series of outdoor workshops next month.

Rooted in Hainworth is the title of the three woodland management sessions at Hainworth Wood hosted by Forest of Bradford volunteers.

They urge people to “get their hands dirty” for dry stone walling, bamboo management, and bracken and bramble control, on May 3, 10 and 17.

People should meet each Wednesday at 1pm outside Ingrow cricket ground, which lies at the junction of Hainworth Lane and Hainworth Road on the hill above the wood.

The sessions are being overseen by regeneration group Keighley Big Local, which is working with the owner of Hainworth Wood to encourage use by members of the public.

In recent weeks volunteers have planted 400 sapling trees, carried out a clean-up and had a forest fun day.
