MAY draws to a close and June fast approaches bringing with it…that’s right, more summer blockbusters (is it actually summer now, Mr Editor?!).

But more on that in a bit. First of all let’s talk about scaffolding.

At the time of writing, it is still up and covering a good quarter of our cinema’s frontage, including the main poster window.

Those of us who grew up passing the cinema during our daily routines will be familiar with the Picture House rubber-necking – namely, craning heads to catch a glimpse of what’s being screened. Indeed, I’m delighted when I witness the phenomenon continuing today, albeit currently not much use with the scaffolding in the way.

So, in the interim, can I draw your attention to our listings carried weekly in the Telegraph and Argus, Craven Herald and, of course, the Keighley News.

In addition, for the tech-savvy amongst you, listings can be found on our Facebook page (search Keighley cinema) or from movietickets.com where you can also use your card to purchase tickets. It is cash only if paying in person at the cinema.

An answerphone listing is available by calling 01535 602561. Messages may be left at the end of the listing if you want a call back.

Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 – Salazar’s Revenge (12a) should open with us tomorrow.

This fifth and final instalment of the sun-kissed and spooky franchise sees original cast members Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Keira Knightly and Kevin McNally joined by newcomers Javier Barden, Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites in what promises to be a swashbuckling and energetic franchise, complete with stunning CGI reminiscent of the first film.

A personal confession here. I recall seeing Pirates Of The Caribbean Curse Of The Black Pearl at the Picture House when I was 13 with a good friend.

We were so stunned by what at the time was ground-breaking CGI ghost pirates and a cracking storyline with excellent acting, that we conspired to ask our respective parents for more money to see ‘the new Terminator film’ the following weekend.

Suffice to say we came back to Pirates a second and even a third time (sorry mum).

Also coming up a the cinema is Baywatch (15). Yes, you read that correctly.

This re-boot should join us at the end of May and is essentially a self-aware spoof of the much loved 80s/90s TV show about US lifeguards protecting their beach from anyone and anything and occasionally stopping someone from drowning.

David Hasselhoff is replaced by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Alongside him are Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas), Zac Efron (Bad Neighbours) and many more of America’s hottest young stars.

Lastly, Wonder Woman (12a) opens on June 2, and needs no further introduction from me!
