A MAN nicknamed Mr Christmas by Manorlands has smashed his own fundraising record for the hospice.

John Crowther lights-up his East Morton home every festive season and collects donations.

And this time his efforts coined-in £1,472, up by more than £450 on the previous year.

Helped by his wife and neighbours, Mr Crowther festooned his Heath Grove home and garden with seasonal displays.

Neighbouring houses also took part and there was also a Nativity scene and Santa's grotto.

Funds were boosted through visits from 'Tinsel Tour' buses, good weather and promotions on social media.

Mr Crowther thanked his neighbours for their help and everyone who supported the venture.

Tribute is paid by Manorlands fundraiser, Andrew Wood.

"Again John has brightened-up the village of East Morton and raised a fantastic amount for our vital care in the local area," he said.

"We are grateful to John and everyone involved and would like to thank them and all those who went along to see this display and made a donation."
