A FORMER contestant in the Great British Bake Off will be a special guest at an event in Haworth next month.

The Haworth Fairtrade Group has invited people to participate in its Little Haworth Bake Off on March 3, which will be attended by Sandy Docherty.

Sandy, from Yeadon, was in the popular national televised contest in 2015, where she made it through to the fourth episode.

A spokesman for the Little Haworth Bake Off organisers said: "This year, to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight, we will showcase many of the Fairtrade ingredients that are available.

"We're inviting people to come and and have a go at baking a bun, icing a bun, or even decorating Fairtrade cotton Bun-ting!

"All are welcome, but places are limited."

She said the event would also comprise a Bake and Bring contest, in which participants can pre-bake a cake to be judged and shared on the day.

They are asked to bake their version of either a banana loaf or a chocolate cake, using Fairtrade ingredients where possible.

Prizes will be on offer and there will also be a Fairtrade hamper raffled off.

The event takes place on Saturday March 3 from 2pm to 5pm in Haworth's West Lane Baptist Church. It is also being backed by Bradford Council, Marks & Spencer, the Co-op and Divine Chocolate.
