AMATEUR rugby clubs across Keighley could claim free equipment.

Ginger-beer brand Crabbie’s has gear worth over £50,000 to give away.

Items ranging from tackle pads to rugby balls are available to union and league clubs.

Among those supporting the Crabbie’s Rugby Rewards initiative is former England rugby union star Simon Halliday (pictured).

He said: “Grassroots rugby is the lifeblood of the sport, with many clubs in Keighley and across West Yorkshire run by passion, grit, determination and a genuine love for the game.

“I’ve seen first-hand the impact that projects like this can have for clubs, both improving the experience of players and attracting new recruits to the sport.”

Over 90 clubs are already signed-up to the programme, but more are invited to get involved by visiting crabbiesrugby.co.uk.

Crabbie’s brand manager, Lucy Cottrell, said: “We are a proud supporter of rugby and to celebrate this we want to give back to amateur rugby clubs.

“At a time where there’s ever-increasing financial pressures on grassroots rugby, we hope the kit will ease the pressure.”
