THE latest in a series of increasingly popular community food kitchens for deprived and homeless people in Keighley takes place early next month.

The kitchen will again be providing breakfasts and lunches in Hainworth Wood Community Centre from 10am till 2pm on Sunday June 3.

Knowle Park resident Sajjad Sadiq, one of the kitchen's organisers, said: "We had a really good turnout last time we held this event, and I'm still getting messages from people now asking me when the next community kitchen is on.

"People can again support us on June 3 by either volunteering at the kitchen or by contributing food. Everyone is welcome."

Mr Sadiq said a recent trip to Greece to assess the plight of refugees stranded in a camp near Athens had not been as productive as he had hoped.

But he added he intends to carry out a different aid mission during this year's Muslim holy month of Ramadan which starts this week.

He said he has still to confirm the details, but this latest trip could either be to help destitute migrants in France or to to assist Syrian refugees in Jordan or Turkey.

Mr Sadiq has previously gone to France to help homeless migrants in and around Calais, and also led a successful Christmas appeal for people sleeping rough in West Yorkshire.
