AN ICON of Haworth theatre is organising a show in tribute to his equally-renowned late brother.
Michael and Terry Lofthouse were for many years responsible for the innovative Gilbert and Sullivan operettas presented by West Lane Baptist Amateurs.
Terry, the former musical director, died in January after a long illness, so his brother Michael, the former director, is gathering many of Terry’s friends to perform.
Half of the show will be Cox and Box, the celebrated short comic opera written by Gilbert and Sullivan and set during a notorious fictional court case.
It will feature former compatriots and admirers of Terry including Roly Robertshaw, John Ramsden and Richard Buxton.
Michael promises “musical delights” in the other half, likely to include songs from musicals because Terry directed the music for several Ilkley Amateur shows like My Fair Lady, Oliver! and The King And I.
The show will be on June 15 and 16 at Haworth West Lane Baptist Church. There will be wines and nibbles from 6.30pm with a chance to reminisce about Terry, and the show will begin at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £10 on the door, including refreshments, and proceeds will go to church funds.
