A FOOTBALL tournament in Keighley will raise cash for refugees driven out of their homes in Burma.

The "Goals for Burma" contest, organised by the group 1 Vision, will be at Marley Activities and Coaching Centre on Sunday July 1, running from 10.30am to 5pm.

All funds raised will go towards helping the Rohingya Muslim minority.

A campaign of ethnic cleansing has forced hundreds of thousands of these people out of Burma and into desperately overcrowded refugee camps in neighbouring Bangladesh.

The Rohingyas flimsy shelters are now being battered by torrential monsoon downpours.

Keighley-based 1 Vision has already mounted three aid missions to Bangladesh, distributing many thousands of pounds worth of provisions to displaced people surviving in the camps.

The group's seven-a-side tournament at Marley will feature food stalls as well as trophies and medals for the successful teams.

The cost of entry for each team is £70 and the entry deadline is June 29.
