HOME-shopping giant Damart – whose warehousing facility is at Steeton – has raised £705 to support a helpline for the elderly.
The company staged a series of activities – including a bake-off, crossword challenge and tannoy bingo – as part of Silver Week.
There was also an afternoon tea for elderly members of the community.
All proceeds from the events are going to Silver Line, a free confidential helpline set-up to combat isolation and loneliness amongst the elderly.
Jo Phipps, employee engagement advisor at Damart, said: “The Silver Line is a charity we feel passionately about, as it’s a cause that is close to many of us and resonates with our customers.
“We wanted to have a little fun and bring staff and the community together for this year’s Silver Week.”
