A SILSDEN Slimming World member who has shed six-and-a-half stones is swimming the equivalent distance of crossing the English Channel.

Last summer, Vivienne Clark weighed nearly 20 stones and had constant pain in her knees and back.

Now she is just 12lbs off target weight and close to completing her 20-plus-miles Channel challenge.

"Swimming was always a great joy to me and now – with the help of Slimming World's Body Magic challenge, which offers rewards for being more active – I am well on my way to covering the equivalent of the Channel," said Vivienne.

"Just six more sessions and I will have achieved it.

"My weight loss is down to hard work on my behalf and really wanting to make a lifestyle change, but without the group and my consultant Ann Hey to keep me focused – and the fun we have had along the way – I know I would not be where I am now and I can't thank them enough."

Ann said she and everyone at the Silsden group were proud of Vivienne's achievements.

"She is such an inspirational member," she added.

Silsden Slimming World meetings take place on Tuesdays, at the town hall at 9am and 11am and St James' Church hall at 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
