YOUNGSTERS celebrated all things British.

Wilsden Primary School flew the flag with an end-of-term Great British Celebration.

Pupils took part in lessons relating to values such as tolerance, respect for all and democracy, before rounding off the day with a picnic and talent show.

The show – Wilsden's Got Talent – was judged by Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Zafar Ali and the school's recently-appointed head boy and girl.

Headteacher John Davison said the day was a huge success.

He added: "We are all responsible for preparing our students for life in modern Britain and instilling key values that will stand them in good stead for the future.

"While many of our pupils have heritage outside the UK, it was brilliant to all come together as a school to celebrate the country we live in and the culture we can share together as a result."

The school is an academy belonging to Focus-Trust, whose chief executive Helen Rowland said: "Our work is underpinned by a set of values in all fifteen of our primary academies which place importance on caring, sharing, being fair and daring to do things differently.

"We were very proud to host this special day in honour of all things British."
