OPERA, pop and are coming to the Victoria Theatre in Halifax as part of its latest season.

The Russian State Opera will return on October 5 with an orchestra of more than 30 musicians to accompany the cast of Carmen.

Feel the thrill and passion of love, jealousy and violence of 19th century Seville in one of Bizet’s most popular pieces.

The company promises fierce passion, gorgeous melodies, nail-biting dramatic confrontations and musical wit.

The opera portrays the story of the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier who is seduced by Carmen, a free-spirited femme fatale.

José abandons his childhood sweetheart and deserts from his military duties yet loses Carmen’s love to the glamorous toreador Escamillo.

Snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan will tell his Sporting Life Story at the Victoria Theatre on November 21.

‘The Rocket’ as he is famously known, is one of sport’s true characters, and he will relate his life from scoring century breaks at the age of 10, through the major wins and 147s, accompanied by footage of some of his most most magical moments.

Ronnie won the 1993 UK Championship at the age of 17, making him the youngest player ever to win a ranking title – a record he still holds.

Following Ronnie’s interview, members the audience will also be able to asking questions.

Ronnie will be accompanied by special guest John Virgo who will be interviewed, taking a look at snooker behind the scenes and what it was like back in the days of the snooker halls.

Jake Bugg will be performing songs from his critically-acclaimed new album ‘Hearts That Strain’ at the Victoria on November 26.

The stripped-back presentation allows the power of Jake’s songwriting to shine through in a live setting.

The latest album saw Jake work with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and Grammy Award winning producers David Ferguson and Matt Sweeney in Nashville.

Toddlers’ favourites the Teletubbies will star in their first-ever live theatre show at the Victoria on September, 15 and 16.

A spokesman said: “Join Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po in a captivating stage show full of love, laughter, music and Big Hugs, as they explore the magical world of Teletubbyland.

“Look out for the Tubby Phone, Noo-Noo and Sun Baby in a fun, bright and safe world, which captures young children’s imaginations and encourages them to explore the world around them.”
