PUPILS and staff at South Craven School have been challenged to identify what makes a successful learner.
The school's lessons are now being designed to develop the most important traits singled out.
A spokesman for the school said nine key ingredients for learning were highlighted, based around the three strands of "Courage", "Enquiry" and "Growth".
South Craven's head teacher Martyn Hill explained: “We asked staff both why they teach and what they thought were the essential ingredients for successful learning.
"We then involved students and narrowed it down to nine areas.”
These include the need to "be curious", "be creative and imaginative", as well as "take risks", "be reliable and respectful" and "respond to feedback".
Students at South Craven have also been encouraged to be resilient and to see failure as an opportunity.
Mr Hill said: “Staff are working together to look at ways we can use the latest research to enhance our teaching methods to improve the classroom experience for the students.
"The classroom is at the heart of what we do. We are working hard to ensure students are prepared for future challenges.”
