THERE’LL be a capital concert this month (October) when Craven Accordion Orchestra will be joined by the London Accordion Orchestra.

The Cross Hills and London musicians will perform together at the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton on October 20 at 7.30pm.

Orchestra founder Harry Hinchcliffe said this would be the first visit the area by the LAO in their 19-year existence.

He said: “They come with a very big reputation. They are regular attendees at international events.”

LAO musical director Ian Watson studied accordion at the Royal Academy of Music, London, graduating with its highest performance degree in 2001.

He has since worked with all the major UK orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Halle and Philharmonia.

He is also known for commercial music including collaborations with Brian Eno, Damon Albarn, Alison Goldfrapp, and is a member of The Divine Comedy.

Watson founded the London Accordion Orchestra in 1999 and has conducted them ever since, performing across Europe and recording at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios.

Harry added: “The award-winning Craven Accordion Orchestra’s successes are well-documented, and we are grateful to our many loyal supporters.”

Musical director Daniel Hinchcliffe, renowned for teaching accordion in local schools, will lead the ensemble with a variety of items to suit all tastes.
