MORE people are needed to come forward and help the team in charge of running Haworth Village Hall and Community Hub.

Councillor Andy Longden reported back on a meeting of the hall's committee which he attended earlier this month. (Sept)

Speaking at the latest meeting of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council he said the hall's voluntary management team was working hard to attract bookings for the property in Butt Lane.

"One of the big issues they have at the moment is the building's heating system, because that hasn't been looked after for a long time," he added.

"They are looking at either a short term fix or long-term repairs."

Cllr Longden added the group has plans to apply for charitable status, which would help it access external sources of funding to maintain and improve the premises.

"They do need more volunteers to help them open up the building for events," he said.

Cllr Trudy Mahon said: "It's very sad that the building was left neglected for so many years. The committee members are all volunteers who are doing their best."
