A CHARITY helping people with dizziness and balance problems caused by inner ear disorders has received a donation from a cake sale arranged by a Worth Valley school.

Staff at Haworth Primary took part in the Meniere's Society Blue Monday initiative last month, (Sept) as part of this year's Balance Awareness Week.

This encouraged people to come to work or school in blue clothes, and to donate money towards the charity.

Haworth Primary inclusion manager Tracy Roe said: "Our staff all dressed in blue and held a cake sale to raise money for the Meniere's Society. It is a cause that's very close to our hearts.

"The event was organised by teaching assistant Elizabeth Labbett and raised £81.45.

"Members of our staff, along with Elizabeth's daughter, made the cakes then sold them in the staff room.

"We were delighted with how much we were able to raise, as it was a decent sum from a small number of staff."

Inner ear disorders are also known as vestibular conditions and can cause feelings of vertigo and nausea. Over the last 20 years the Meniere's Society has invested nearly £1 million into helping fund research into these types of illnesses.
