TWO young friends are tackling a five-mile run to raise money for charity.

Floss Andrews and Archie Bostock, both from Haworth, will take on the challenge later this month in aid of Cancer Research UK.

They aim to complete four-and-a-half laps around Ogden Water, near Denholme, on October 27.

Floss, eight, a pupil at Haworth Primary School, and ten-year-old Archie, who attends Oakworth Primary, had an original fundraising target of £250.

But they set-up an online donations page, at fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/archies-giving-page-8, and have already coined-in about £350.

"They've organised the run totally off their own bat and we're hugely proud of them," said Floss' dad, Rik, a marketing manager at the Skipton Building Society.

"My mother-in-law died from cancer in the summer and Floss wanted to do something to raise money.

"She just came into the house one day and said she'd like to do a run!

"Both she and Archie have taken leaflets around neighbours and are being sponsored by family and friends.

"They'd beaten their target within the first week, which is fantastic."

The youngsters have been getting in some training ahead of their challenge.

Floss, and her mum Hannah, took part in Keighley's inaugural Cliffe Castle parkrun last month.
