A COMMUNITY bulb planting session took place at Oxenhope Rose Garden.

Councillor Ken Eastwood, chairman of Oxenhope Parish Council, said 14 people took part in the weekend event, saying it had been a great afternoon.

"The number of people who came meant we made light work of it, and we were finished in no time," he added.

"We're looking into when it'll be the right time to plant new trees in the Rose Garden, and we are going to confirm what type of shrubs we'll be buying for the garden.

"There is a feeling of positivity about what we're aiming to do."

The parish council, along with a volunteer-led friends group, is steering a project to enhance and rejuvenate this public green space, which was previously managed by Bradford Council.

Earlier this autumn, the parish council agreed to allocate up to £1,300 to fund the next phase of work on the garden. This includes cash for eight additional cherry trees.
