COMEDY magic will be on offer in Glusburn as Carl & Dave present their My Pink Bin show on November 17.

From 7.30pm the duo will be serving up much campness, impressive illusions and knock-about fun in a show billed as fabulous family entertainment.

The venue is Glusburn Institute and Community Arts Centre.

Carl & Dave are two friends who perform magic for a living, and joined forces in 2010 to create a comedy double act.

A spokesman said: “The comic spin that Carl & Dave’s act puts on the ancient art of illusion certainly will make this show the one that everyone will talk about.

“The trickery is original, the banter between the two highly amusing and, come the end, you really will sense you had seen something quite unusual.

“Even if for large parts of the show you suspect the guys are busking it, there’s no mistaking that these are serious magicians at play, and loving it!

“If you like a bit of randomness and you want a laugh, you’ll love these boys!”

Members of the Magic Circle and a renowned comedy warm-up act, Carl & Dave were voted Best International Comedy Act at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Glusburn Institute will screen the movie Zombieland on Friday, November 2 at 7.30pm.

Columbus, played by Jesse Eisenberg, has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) doesn’t have fears.

In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evolved survivors. But now, they’re about to stare down the most terrifying prospect of all: each other.

Soul Train, who perform at the Institute on December 8, are a dynamic seven-piece band performing classic soul hits from the Stax and Motown labels, including hits from Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett and Sam and Dave.

Soul Train was formed by the three remaining members of the popular Keighley soul band of the 90s, Soul Fish, and the line-up now features two powerful male and female vocalists, who together give an energetic, flamboyant performance with outstanding vocals.

Soul Train’s line-up takes the form of drums, bass, guitar, trumpet, tenor and alto saxes.

A spokesman said: “These experienced musicians, some of whom have shared the stage with the great Aretha Franklin, Paul Jones, and worked for the BBC, recreate the sweet soulful sound of the late 60s early 70s.

“Soul Train has the line-up to deliver an outstanding sound and performance, that continues to impress audiences, transporting them back in time, with their renditions of timeless classics.”

The Institute screens Christmas family classic The Polar Express December 14.
