A LIBRARY challenge was just the ticket with youngsters.

More than 100 children took part in a summer reading challenge, run jointly by South Craven Community Library in Cross Hills and North Yorkshire's libraries service.

Youngsters received certificates for reading six books.

The community library has also hosted a Brilliant Babies session, held jointly with South Craven Children’s Centre.

There were rhymes, music making, hand printing to create laminated place mats, and a chance to join the library.

Mums also made some black and white books to use with their babies.

"It went so well more sessions are to be planned," said a library spokesman.
