THE MADNESS musical Our House is the next show to be performed by Bingley Amateurs.

The group has chosen Our House as a follow-up to a successful run of modern musicals like Legally Blonde, Cats and Flashdance.

A spokesman said: “With the talented and enthusiastic cast under the direction of Paul Nowland there is once again the promise of memorable and impressive performances.”

Cast members come from along the Aire Valley including Steeton, Riddlesden and Keighley.

Our House is a musical built around the hit songs of 1980s ska/pop band Madness, such as House of Fun, My Girl, Baggy Trousers, Driving in My Car and It Must Be Love.

The script was written by Tim Firth, who also wrote Calendar Girls, Neville’s Island and Take That musical The Band.

Our House, which won the 2003 Olivier award for Best New Musical, explores themes of love, family values, growing up, responsibility, and dealing with losing the people that shape us.

The story follows Camden lad Joe Casey who, on the night of his 16th birthday, makes a decision that will change his life.

Our House follows the two paths that Joe’s life could take after that fateful night.

Our House will be at Bingley Arts Centre from November 13 to 17.
