STUDENTS from Glusburn or Sutton could receive cash from a historic trust to support their education.
Students who are in further education at universities or colleges can apply for a small grant from the Sir John Horsfall Exhibition Foundation.
The committee of the Sir John Horsfall Exhibition Foundation will be considering grant applications for the 2018/19 academic year.
To be eligible, applicants must live in or have attended community and/or voluntary schools in the parishes of Glusburn or Sutton-in-Craven before the age of 16.
All applicants will be expected to provide a reference from either their current or past tutor to prove their suitability for a grant. In previous years, the value of the grant has been about £100.
County councillor Patrick Mulligan, Executive Member for Education and Skills, said: “This grant could provide valuable extra help for people going on to further education. Funding studies can be a worry for students. These grants can help to relieve some of that pressure.”
Application forms are available from the Post-16 Team, North Yorkshire County Council, Jesmond House, Harrogate, HG1 5QE, on 01609 533693 or by emailing Post16@northyorks.gov.uk.
The closing date for applications is November 30.
