A KEIGHLEY charity has appealed for local support for its mercy mission to Slovakia.

Living Lights plans to take desperately-needed food, clothes, shoes and toiletries to isolated, poverty-stricken villages in Slovakia.

The church charity currently runs a foodbank and outreach service for families in need in Keighley.

Living Lights founder Patrick McDonnell said “I have been made aware of the terrible living conditions and hardship these people are living in, there is no fresh water or electricity.

“We need help with donations of children’s and adults’ clothes and shoes of all ages and sizes, also toiletries and financial donations as this is a completely separate mission from what we do for the local community all year round.”

Patrick will lead a team to take the donations directly to the villages in January next year.

Patrick added: “We are hoping to raise enough money to take a three-and-a-half-ton truck of donations.”
