PARKSIDE Students have been on the road to Nowhere.

The Cullingworth school welcomed popular Young Adult author Jon Robinson to talk to year seven students about his Nowhere trilogy.

School librarian Lesley Watson said: "He entertained them with tales of his first attempts at writing at stories at school and his inspirations."

Many students stayed after the end of the talk to have copies of his books signed by Jon.

Students also had the opportunity to enter a short story competition, by writing a 500-word story that had to include the sentence: "Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse, I saw him out of the window."

The two winning entries, by Evie Greenwood and Phoenix Morris, each won a signed set of the trilogy.

Jon Robinson was born in 1983 in Middlesex, and his first novel for young adults, conspiracy thriller Nowhere, was published by Penguin Random House Children’s in 2013.

The sequels Anywhere and Somewhere brought the Canterbury writer even greater success, as his characters fight to stop the country spiralling into anarchy and chaos.
