A MEETING to decide how to address the worsening surfaces of some unadopted roads in Oxenhope was described as very positive by a parish councillor.

Cllr Robert Goulding, of Oxenhope Parish Council, attended the meeting with residents of an area of the village known as The Square, which includes Beatrice Street in Lowertown and several other nearby residential streets.

Also present was parish councillor Karen Faulkner and ward councillors Rebecca Poulsen and Chris Herd.

Cllr Faulkner said about 16 to 20 residents of The Square were present.

Cllr Goulding said: “People there did say they want this sorted out, but we came to an understanding that a complete resurfacing is unlikely to happen as it would cost tens of thousands of pounds.

“There was also an understanding that not all residents of this area would be able to contribute.

“It felt like people were realistic and pragmatic about what can be done, and they were pleased the parish council was taking an interest.”

Cllr Goulding said Cllr Poulsen had confirmed Bradford Council could not fund any resurfacing, due to these streets being unadopted. He said another meeting with residents had been scheduled to take place on February 5.
