VIENNA based Gitarrissima will be performing in Skipton next month in a ‘Christmas Celebration’.
The unique ensemble of five young female guitarists from Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Japan and Austria have been enchanting a steadily growing international audience with their sensitive musical interplay and virtuoso performances.
In 2014 they won third prize and the special ‘audience prize’ at the third International competition for guitar ensembles in Aschaffenburg, Germany, impressive proof of their musicality.
Thanks to their unusual line-up and original arrangements, Gitarrissima is breaking new ground in the genre of classical guitar music.
Their performance, at Christ Church, Skipton, at 7.30pm on December 11, is part of the Skipton Music programme of events. The performance will include Bizet’s Carmen ballet suite; Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake; The Nutcracker Ballet Suites, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Copland’s Hoe Down from Rodeo, and Shingofujii’s Rhapsody Japan. Tickets from skiptonmusic.co.uk.
