PEBBLES painted to remember Oakworth men who died in the First World War are being taken around the world.
The Men of Worth Project arranged for 60 stones to be painted and placed around the village by residents.
Men of Worth volunteer Andy Wade said one woman planned to take a pebble to Finland with her grandchildren, while John Sugden from Oakworth Village Society would take one to Gran Canaria on holiday.
He said: “My sister-in-law Cath Waller is a leading marine biologist and she’s taking a Phd student to South Georgia via the Falkland Islands.
She said she will leave one poppy pebble at the Falklands war memorial or the cemetery and one at Shackleton’s Grave on South Georgia. Both sites get a lot of visitors so there’s the potential for a lot of people to find out about Oakworth men from the Great War.”
