A HOUSEBUILDER has entered a new chapter of educational support.

Barratt Homes Yorkshire West has donated £250 worth of books to Keighley College, for use by bricklaying and joinery students.

The company, whose developments include Vision at Braithwaite, says the donation is part of its ongoing support for communities in which it builds.

Construction director Darren Johnson added: "With Keighley College so close to our Vision scheme we wanted to support the students by donating these books.

"We’re keen to encourage more young people into construction, which can be a very longstanding and rewarding career.

"We hope donations like this will help address the wider skills shortage currently faced by the industry, and we look forward to hearing the success stories from the college.

"Who knows, one day these students could become part of Barratt Homes’ construction team!"

The college thanks the company for its backing.

Transition and employability officer, Chirelle Perrett, said: "We’re delighted to have the support from Barratt Homes.

"The donation was really generous and will help ensure our students have access to books they rely on for their studies.

"The books will be well looked after at home in our library and will be a fantastic resource for our current and future students."
