SCREEN actress and mezzo soprano singer Maria Watton-Graham will perform during an evening of Christmas jazz classics to be held in Skipton.

She will join piano-vocalist Tom Seals at his next Gin & Jazz residency at Alexander’s in the High Street on December 4.

Skipton based Maria starred in the movie Miss Conception alongside Heather Graham as well as appearing on Britain’s Got the Pop Factor with comedian Peter Kay.

She has spent the last ten years performing to audiences worldwide a board some of the world’s most prestigious cruise liners, including the QE2.

The owner all Alexander’s, Susannah Daley, said: “Maria is an accomplished singer with incredible Hollywood style which will be perfect for our Christmas Gin & Jazz.

“Expect beautiful classics like Frosty the Snowman and White Christmas, along with some unexpected jazz arrangements of more conventional Christmas songs.”

Maria said she had been based in Skipton for several years, but had had only recently stopped performing on the ships, so this would be her first time performing locally.

She added: “Having been part of a cast for the last ten years I am just starting to find my own true voice again and Alexander’s offers the perfect platform for me to do that.”

Alexander’s Gin & Jazz features top Boogie Woogie pianist-vocalist, Tom Seals, who was recently nominated for Best Male Vocalist at the Boisdale Music Awards 2018.

Alexander’s opened within 4-6 High Street, Skipton, a Grade II listed building, in summer last year following a £2.5 million investment.

The restaurant won the Stray FM ‘Best New Business Award 2017’ within 12 weeks of opening, hosts Gin & Jazz on the first Tuesday of every month with Tom.
