STEETON Male Voice Choir and Cononley Singers are preparing for their Christmas concerts. The Steeton men will perform at the Cottingley Community Centre, formerly known as Cornerstones, on December 15 at 7.30pm.

The Cononley Singers our preparing a busy Christmas programme following the success of a first performance in a packed undercroft at Fountains Abbey last month.

They will sing carols at Victoria Gate in Leeds on December 8 from 10.30am until 2pm, with proceeds going to the Leeds Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. Wednesday December 12 at 7pm will see the Cononley Singers at St Andrew’s Church, Gargrave, for the “Lights of Love” service, organised by Manorlands.

There will be Christmas concerts at Christ Church, Skipton, and Cononley Village Institute on Friday and Saturday, December 14 and 15. December 16 sees the Music and Reading Service at St John’s Church, Cononley, at 2.30pm, and on December 19 there will be carol singing outside The New Inn from about 7.30pm. The concerts begin at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the New Inn, by calling 01535 637405, or on the door.

Steeton Male Voice Choir recently registered with the Voices Yorkshire campaign which brings together choirs from across the county, large and small, amateur and professional. A spokesman said: “Voices Yorkshire will be a biennial choral festival that celebrates the diversity and excellence of choral music and choirs throughout Yorkshire.”
