THE LORD Mayor of Bradford was among guests at this year’s Christmas fair in Oakworth.

Cllr Zafar Ali toured stalls run by various village groups at the event on Saturday in Oakworth Village Hall.

He was also able to see facilities at the building, formerly Holden Hall, following its successful transfer from Bradford Council to the volunteer-run Oakworth Village Trust.

The fair was again organised by Oakworth Village Society, whose president John Sugden welcomed visitors including the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Zafar Ali.

Society spokesman Jean Sugden said the hall was beautifully decorated on Saturday.

She said: “The large crowd of visitors browsed the stalls of Christmas goods manned by village groups and churches. Father Christmas handed out gifts and children took part in the Christmas drawing competition.

“All Village Society raffle prizes were claimed however prizes are still unclaimed by W Townend and B Arnold in the drawing competition.”
