THE POLAR Express stops off at the Picture House, Keighley, and Glusburn Arts Centre as it heads to the North Pole.

At the Picture House, in North Street, there will also be screenings of White Christmas and It’s A Wonderful Life.

The Polar Express, the 2004 film starring Tom Hanks as an enchanted train conductor, portrays a young boy’s magical adventure as he rides to the North Pole on the Polar Express while learning about friendship, bravery and the spirit of Christmas.

In Glusburn a grotto will be open from 5pm on December 14 so children can meet Santa and receive a gift from him.

Adults will receive a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, and the bar will also be open. The Polar Express will be screened at 6pm. Visit gicac.org.uk or call 01535 630223 to book tickets.

The Picture House will screen The Polar Express on Saturday, December 22 at 5.15pm. White Christmas, the Irving Berlin musical starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen, will be screened at the Picture House on Sunday, December 23 at 5pm.

Christmas Eve at 5pm will feature It’s A Wonderful Life, the all-time favourite Christmas film from 1946 that starred James Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore. The Picture House will also screen much-anticipated Disney sequel Mary Poppins Returns which begins its run on December 21.

Picture House proprietor Charles Morris said: “ we have a new, proper family film for the holidays and Christmas wouldn’t be complete without ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’, which is guaranteed to put even the most cynical person in a good mood. “We will be offering free mince pies at this show, while stocks last!”

It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas will also be screened at the Picture House’s sister cinema, the Plaza in Skipton, on December 24 at 11am and December 16 at 5pm respectively.
