KEIGHLEY'S postal workers are to receive a civic stamp-of-approval for their seasonal efforts.

Lord Mayor of Bradford, Keighley councillor Zafar Ali, is visiting the town's Royal Mail sorting office to deliver a special message of thanks.

"At no other time is the hard work and dedication of postmen and women clearer than during the festive period," he said.

"There is a huge amount of effort and dedication that goes into delivering a first-class Christmas all over the country.

"I’m looking forward to meeting the team at Keighley and will personally thank them for the lengths they go to ensure Christmas parcels and cards are delivered to loved ones on time."

During next Friday's (Dec 21) visit, Cllr Ali will be given a tour of the office by manager Colin Riley.

* The last recommended Christmas posting date for second-class items is next Tuesday (Dec 18), and for first-class items Thursday, December 20.

Royal Mail recommends that special delivery items are sent by Saturday, December 22.
