MANORLANDS is staging a Christmas tree recycling scheme which will raise cash for the hospice.

Volunteers and staff will collect trees between January 7 and 13, in exchange for a donation.

Mulching will then be carried out by Keighley Tree Services, with the material being transformed into renewable biofuel for power stations.

People are asked to register their details and pledge a donation, of between £6 and £100, and then leave their tree somewhere accessible for collection in the New Year.

A similar venture post-Christmas last year raised over £7,500 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

"Due to its success last time we have decided to hold it again," said Manorlands community fundraising officer, Gemma Bingham.

"Once again we are extremely grateful to Skipton Self Drive, which has kindly donated two vans to help with the collection, meaning all the money raised will enable us to provide more care to more people at the hospice and in the community."

Volunteers are being sought to help collect the trees. Anyone interested should call 01535 640445.
